Not Actually Borges

I'm terribly excited.  Tall Elizabeth let me borrow a few of her French books:

Contes Francais - 10 short stories by Voltair, Balzac, Gide, Camus and others in original French and a new English translation.
Merde - The REAL French you were never taught at school.
Le Petit Prince - Doesn't really need a tagline.

So I'm going to try translating a few of them, probably starting with that short story one.

In school news, Art and Culture, even with Kelly, is boring.  As in, I don't see a reason to actually pay a person to speak in my direction.  Why aren't we discussing art?  Couldn't I learn the course content through memorization?  Kelly touches on interesting things every 20 minutes or so, but I've heard most of the things we're talking about, and often read much more than she actually says.  I mean, why don't we talk about something cool, like hemaphrodites and art in ancient cultures?  Or why ancient people believed in billions of gods and prayers, but we don't?

My favorite class is Hyman's Henry James and Naturalism.  Probably because it's the only class where we actually analyze information.  The only problem, and I feel horrible saying this, but the girls in the class must be completely retarded.  I mean, every time Hyman mentions something vaguely amusing about James' writing, they fall into this pit of convulsive laughter.  Have they read the story?  Didn't they see the humor before Hyman pointed it out?  I can't help but feel that they're laughing for some strange Girl Literature Major reason.  I mean, it's not like the guy in class is better than the girls, I mean he doesn't really seem near the level of most of Hyman's students, but at least he keeps his goddamn mouth shut.  This is the sort of thing that drives men to mysogony.  Which probably means I'm not thinking clearly.  It's fair to assume that neither of humanity's halves is crazy/retarded/stupid.

I don't know what it is about Lit majors, but every upper level class seems full of people I hate.

I miss summer, and reading in a quiet room by myself.  (Even though I know that was probably driving me as near to crazy as I can get.)

PS:  Look Britany, punctuation inside apostrophe!
